I found this to be amusing.

Quote:
The American military and intelligence communities are increasingly worried that would-be bin Ladens might gather in a virtual world, to plan a real-life attack. But the spies haven't given many details, about how it might be done. Now, a Pentagon researcher has laid out how such a terror plot might unfold. The planning ground is World of Warcraft. The main target of this possibly nuclear strike: the White House.

Seriously?

This is idoicy. Let us debunk it at each level:

If the FBI wants to monitor WOW traffic, they'll modify Carnivore to strip out chat logs and analyze it like they do anything else. Or if they have a suspicion on a player, they'll subpoena Blizzard. The fact that they don't have a level X character or access to a particular guild is moot when you have network traffic and access to the servers. Any modern encryption system over email is orders of magnitude more problematic for intelligence to decipher anyway.

Speaking in code and metaphors is ancient history. If this is an obstacle for intel agencies, we are in serious trouble.

This is no different than discovering terr'ists might use restrooms to hatch plans ! A scary new trend in the war against the christian. They hate our big macs and FREEDOM!!!!

The tail end of the article is the only part that held anything of intellectual merit. That we might have spies camping out in virtual worlds.

Plus, just imagine how bad your ping has to be from a cave in the middle of Afghanistan.
